Raksha Bandhan is a great festival of India for celebrating the emotional bond between brother and sister. It is a great thread of love. Raksha Bandhan festival is celebrated through out the country with lots of enjoyment and enthusiasm. This raksha Bandhan is generally observed in the month of Shravan acoording to Hindu Calendar. But apart from India, raksha bandhan is celebrated around the world by the Indian residing different countries of the world with equal excitement and enthusiasm. This raksha Bandhan acts also as a social binding. Not only sisters tie the sacred rakhi on on the wrist of their brother but this sacred rakhi can also be tied on the wrist of friends and neighbour as well. This raksha Bandhan not only signifies a promise of protection but much beyond this. On this raksha bandhan utsav every sisters tie this sacred thread of love on their brother's wrist. Traditionally gifts are exchanged on raksha bandhan festival.Brother give beautiful gifts to their sisters and sisters also give return gifts to their brother. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in different way in different parts of the country. In north India, Raksha bandhan is also called Kajri purnima.In western sides this raksha bandhan festival is called Nariyal purnima.
